P. B. Olmstead
Interestingly, I was researching the photographer J.M. Naiman of Washington, D.C.,who by the the looks of your photo, was the group photographer of choice back in the twenties. I was amazed to see your photo which is apart from the group is the same era as my vintage family group photo. Unlike you, I can't identify the date or specific family members, but I can tell you the photo was taken in front of the West elevation of Mt. Vernon!

I can document my Zuvers back to Soloman, but cannot document any further back. Do you have documentation proving the relationships between Andreas & Henry? The Cerro Gordo County Iowa IAGenWeb Project claims Andreas & a Johannes Zuver are brothers. It goes on the say that Johannes is the father of Elizabeth Zuver Kerns. What are your thoughts this statement?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I believe the following statement has an error:
"David’s sister Juliana Kerns, born about 1819 in Ohio would marry Elizabeth Zuver’s brother Solomon Zuver, born about 1819 in Pennsylvania, she would be one of his 3 wives, creating yet another twist in the family line. " Solomon's sibs were John, Susanna, Lea, Henry & James; no Elizabeth. He did have 3 wives, Julia Kerns, Urilla Kenney & Annette Ravencroft; again no Elizabeth.

Solomon Gillespie Krepps 1793-1833 mentioned above was Noah Speer/s Sr's son in law who married his daughter Cassandra. Through this marriage we have a connection through the Gillespie's by marriage to General William T. Sherman.. At one time in the late 1700's, the Speers spelled their last name 3 ways - Speer, Spears, and Speers. A fourth way Spear was later added by one changing his last name from Speers to Spear in Pittsburgh.
Noah Sr inherited his slaves from his mother Regina who died about 1797. In 1825 he is recorded as having 10 slaves. His cousin Nicholas Reasoner had 5.
There are over 17 Noah's in the family tree. Noah Wyle is one of them. There are, 20 or more Henry's, 9 Solomons, and 5 Louis M Speer/s, some of these spell their last name Speers, Spear, Speer or Spears. We are not related to Britney, and this is a German line from the Alsace-Loraine area of northern France. They moved to PA from Hampshire County VA / WV and previously located on the South Shenandoah River by 1744. They settled as squatters in the area during the middle 1760's along with the Swiss German Frey/Frye/Fry family, the French Froman family at Maple Creek and Monongahela PA, the Nicholas Crist Sr family at Columbia/Donora,and the Dutch Kuykendall family north of Monongahela before the Treaty of Fort Stanwix in April 1769 legally opened the area to settlement by William Penn. Not 1773.! Henry Spears was the first registered land owner in Bedford County in 1769 that split into Westmoreland County and others in/after 1773.
Jacob Bowman mentioned above originally worked for David Furnier at the first Mid Monongahela River store at Gibsonton.
The Belle Vernon Bicentennial will be in 2013/14. More interesting details will be available during the Bicentennial celebration in June 2013.
